Galina Andrianova - Assistant Director of Center "Eidos",
International Contacts Coordinator. Experienced in giving
creative lessons in English in Moscow schools. Author of
international distance projects "My Virtual Home" and My Sweet
Valentine, distance creative courses "Creative English" and
"E-letters". Coordinator of pen-paling among students of Russia,
America, Great Britain, Italy and other countries. At present,
she is a researcher on problems of technologies to organize
students' creative work in distance learning.
Course Description.
Distance course "E-letters" serves to meet needs of all
categories of educators willing to start e-mail contacts between
students from different countries, especially Russia, Ukraine,
Beloruss and the countries of the former SU.Basic knowledge of
English is essential. No specific background required.
Course Goals:
1) finding and keeping up e-mail contacts between students and
educators in Russia, and countries from the former SU;
2) organization of individual and group lessons to master the
following skills for better keeping up the contact process:
goals setting, planning of pen-paling, reflexive thinking of
contact activities (success and problems,etc.);
3) mastering computer skills through participation in e-mailing;
4) creating conditions to develop students distance educational
activity with the help of other teachers.
Course Themes:
The course is delivered via E-mail and consists of four stages
during two month's period. Stages Contents Time Frame
1 stage The process of diagnostics of local conditions to start
e-mail contacts. 1 week
2 stage Ways of creating students and teachers motivated
activity while organizing e-mailing. Start of e-mail contacts. 2
weeks
3 stage Organizing systematic lessons in school to keep up
contacting process. Creating conditions to develop students
distance educational activity. 4 weeks
4 stage Ways of reflexive thinking and planning future work to
start educational distance projects on the ground of e-mailing
contacts.

Course Organization:
Every stage of the course compiles the following activities:
1 stage. School local coordinator of e-mail contacts together
with the students find out their motives and aims to start
pen-paling with students from other countries. Center "Eidos"
sends a set of example questions and tasks to discuss pen-paling
with students.
2 stage. Then, there is a thorough analysis of the collected
data to construct the school plan of pen-paling. Also, Center
"Eidos" helps to distribute functions among students, educators,
school staff, suggesting the appropriate algorithm of actions.
After the preparatory work there is a process of sending letters
to the chosen addresses.
3 stage. Getting in contact with students from Russia, Ukraine,
Beloruss and other countries of the former SU. The analysis and
choice of schools to start contacts with. Finding ways to set
common goals, organize joint educational projects. Solving the
problem of getting the other teachers involved.
4 stage. Reflexive analysis of the work done, solving the
problems during the contact process. Center "Eidos" delivers a
set of distance lessons to discuss pen-paling with students.and
educators. Making corrections, when necessary, of the pen-paling
stages. Publishing the results in local press, Internet, school
page, etc. Plans to expand the school activities on new forms of
distance education.

register in Center "Eidos".
